Part 37: SAVE the World

(Please watch this. In addition to being the grand finale of the entire game, the battle's intensity is far too high for me to effectively gif Asriel's attacks.)

If I can't stop Asriel, then none of this will ever end.

He has become the most powerful being ever to exist.
I Hope.

Hope allows me to keep holding on.

I Dream.

You can feel the empty space in your inventory get smaller and smaller!

Asriel calls down a wave of stars to destroy me. All of his attacks do 5 damage per hit.

After each attack, I can see the name of the one coming next.

Through DETERMINATION, the dream became true.
Your HP was maxed out.

Wave after wave of lightning pours down on my soul.

Asriel's swords cut away at my soul.
When I'm using Hope, his attacks do 3 damage instead of 5.

I succumb to Asriel's attacks...

...No.
I refuse to let it end like this!

Every time I die, my soul holds on. The fight starts over.
In order to advance, I need to hold out until the turn where I died before.

To avoid Chaos Saber, I follow his body's movements with my own. The safe spot is always directly underneath him.

Shocker Breaker is easy - it warns everywhere it's going to strike beforehand.

Asriel rapidly alternates waves of 3-4 bullets...

...and finishes the attack off with a huge laser!

By the end of this attack, my health is running low again.

Shocker Breaker II starts faster...

Adds a stream of aimed bolts in the middle...

And ends with a sweep of lightning across the entire board.

BGM: Burn in Despair!

I can't fight. I can't reach my items. I can't even use mercy.
All I can do is Struggle.

I'm no match for Asriel's true power.

But... I refuse to give up.

The torment continues.

But... I refuse to...

You struggle... nothing happened.

You tried again to reach your SAVE file. Nothing happened.
Seems SAVING the game really is impossible.
...
But...
Maybe, with what little power you have...

I SAVE Undyne.

They're in there somewhere, aren't they?
...
Within the depths of Asriel's soul, something's resonating...!

I Clash with the Lost Soul.

She feels your fighting spirit... It's familiar somehow.

I ask the Lost Soul for a Recipe.

She doesn't know why, but she kind of wants ot teach you how...

I attack the Lost Soul with a Fake Hit.

Something about the way you fight... it's all flooding back!

Undyne has been saved.

I SAVE Alphys.

I Call the Lost Soul.

She doesn't know why, but this all seems very familiar...

I Nerd Out with the Lost Soul.

She can barely hold back from giving you an enormous answer...

I Encourage the Lost Soul.

Suddenly, she remembers... It's all flooding back!

Alphys has been saved.

I SAVE Papyrus and Sans.

I talk to the left Lost Soul about a Puzzle.

He doesn't know why, but he really wants to help you.

I ask the right Lost Soul about a Break.

It seems like it wants to.

I tell the left Lost Soul a Joke.

He seems to hate it... But the other Lost Soul seems to like it.

I talk to the right Lost Soul about Judgment.

It nods solemnly...!

Papyrus and Sans have been saved.

I SAVE Toriel and Asgore.

I tell the left Lost Soul my Preference.

Somehow, she faintly recalls hearing this before...

I show Mercy to the right Lost Soul.

Something about this is so familiar to him...

I Hug the left Lost Soul.

Something about this is so familiar to her...

I Hug the right Lost Soul.

Suddenly, his memories are flooding back!

Toriel and Asgore have been saved.

Is that everyone?

No. Not quite.

BGM: Silence
Something else began resonating within the soul, stronger and stronger.
It seems that there's still one last person that needs to be saved.
But who...?
...
Suddenly, you realize.
You reach out and call their name.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

I SAVE Asriel.

BGM: Silence

BGM: Memory
